Now a baby girl’s name is a bit tricky than baby boy’s. During the past decade, a baby girl’s name can be a baby boy’s name as well. For example, Dominic, some just alter the spelling by using que instead of c at the end of Dominic, or Gabriel, by adding extra l and e at the end of it.

Now, the name Alexandra was widely used during the past years and the spelling evolved from a simple one to a complex one. Some spell it with the use of two s’s instead of x. But then again, there’s still the old fashion baby girl’s name. I love the name Anne, not only because it’s my name but its meaning feels right for me. Anne is an old name; the old spelling is without an E and during the 80s to 90s not everyone uses the name anymore, only as a second name perhaps like mine.

I think one of the most popular names in 2000 up until now is Nicole. My daughter’s best friend is named Nicole, and when they’re in first grade there’s at least two more Nicole’s in their class. The name is a variation of Nicholas and Nicolette or Nicoletta which means people’s victory. The name Nicole is from the American origin, but the variation of Nicolette is from French origin and Nicoletta is from Greek origin.

According to babyhold.com, the most popular name in the U.S. is Emily. The name Emily is from American origin but from the variation that it was used, since it’s a female counterpart for the name Emil from the Roman origin of the name Aemilius that means industrious. Also from American origin the name Emma is widely used, the name means whole, complete.

In lieu with the popularity of Hannah Montana, the name Hannah is one of the most popular names as well. Aside from the fact that the name Hannah is a palindrome, meaning, even if you spell it backwards, it would still give you the name Hannah. Its origin is from Hebrews, and it means favor or grace. Also in the bible Hannah is the mother of the prophet Samuel.

Just like Hannah, the name Anna is a palindrome. Anna is of Native American and Hebrew origin and it is also a variant of the name Anne which means favor and grace. Hmm…it definitely means exactly like Hannah, so I guess Anna is also a variant of Hannah.

Don’t you just love the name Haley? It reminds me of Bethany Joy Lentz-Galleotti of One Tree Hill. Well Haley can be a girl or a boy’s name as well. If it’s used as a girl’s name, it’s from English origin that means fields of hay. But if you’re going to use the name as a boy’s name, Haley is of Irish origin that means ingenious.

I guess the reason being this name is popular because of Angelina Jolie? As far as I know, the most common variant of Angelina is Angelica, Angela, or Angelic. But the name Angelina is from French origin that practically means angel. It’s a no brainer actually that the name means angel because of the prefix itself angel give away the meaning.

Now one of the most popular names is Brooke, the name is from English origin as well that means lives by the stream. You know, as in brook, a body of water?

The list of popular baby girl’s name goes on and on depending on your taste, but the one’s I’ve listed above are the widely used names that I’ve encountered more than once in my life. Our name plays a big part in our lives and in our personality, so choose the right one for your baby, so that your baby lives up to the meaning of their names.
